Worship

Postby Spence » Sat Nov 28, 2009 11:23 am

I in a way kinda stole this from another group but I figure it would be a good conversation starter and hopefully bring some juice and possibly debate to this board. I have altered the question from the original but still here it goes:

Why do some worship or honor certain deities? In other words what drew you to your deity(s) of choice.

I personally call to Mother Earth and Father Sky not to a specific named deity. I feel move drawn to this than say calling Carridwen or Thor. But I do feel a connection with a few "named" deities.

Well here it goes,

After much soul searching and deliberation, I have decided that Neo-Paganism is something I am quickly losing touch with. *Shock, Gasp, Shudder* This being said it does not mean that I do not believe in More than one God or Goddess, I am still polytheistic but I am disillusioned with the Wicca based movements within Neo-paganism. I am not saying all paths are based off of Wicca, but a lot of them are no matter how non-fluffy they might seem. I have become fascinated with Thelema and Ceremonial Magick in the way of finding a discipline that suits what I need spiritually in my life right now.

I intend on being initiated intot he O.T.O. with my brother Rook and exploring that spiritual path for awhile. Maybe it will lead me back maybe not. In the past I have associated myself with, Hecate, The Morrighan, Hephaestus, and Lugh. I still find comfort and power int hose but not in the way I have been worshipping them. Hecate was always my magickal Guide, while The Morrighan was my Warrior Goddess, Hephaestus was my inspiration for my love of metalwork and my art, and Lugh was my Lord of Swords.

Well the O.T.O. Stands for Ordo Templi Orientis It is a Fraternal Organization That is based in a large part by the writing of Alesteit Crowley. Crowley joind the O.T.O. And introduced "The book of the Law" which was transmitted to him over the corse of three days exactly at noon by His Holy Guardian Angel. It encompasses a mix of Qabalah, Occultism, Eastern Mysticism, and Western Mysticism. I am not nearly qualified of probably even allowed to by O.T.O. Law to give a workshop but I might be able to talk on of the members into it if I am initiated by them.

Ok, I seriously, almost never, ever talk about this. Savor:

I insist on no personifications and no names for anything that I revere, other than, say, dirt, bird, child, tree, you, river...
All, of the source, in different manifestations.
I call on nothing, no one. "It" is within me. It IS me. I just seek within, instead of without.
To be painfully truthful, I know but a few them, told to me by others. I avoid books about spirituality. My humble knowledge, such as it is, comes to me through meditation (in its various forms), and experience. I have not ever "felt right" by providing names or personifications. I'm sorry. No, I'm not.
This is in no way to state that those who do so, are wrong. No, what works for is your path, and I accept that and love that.
A wise man once said, nothing. He listened.

Well since I started this topic I probably should post my answer to it.

Well at first I was unsure I had an idea that I was a follower of at least one of the Greek deities however I wasn't sure which one. For a while I thought it was Eros but after a while I kept seeing hawks everywhere so I looked it up and it turned out that hawks are the messenger of Apollo. After reading all of the things that Apollo is God over I realized that Apollo is definitely my God. As far as a Goddess goes I still haven't figured that one out, but I know now that when she's ready to reveal herself she'll let me know.

Me?

Here's how I understand divinity at the moment...I perceive the universe as one big energy...and we interpret the energy in our own way, our brain is a translation filter for the energy. I prefer to use Buddhist imagery because it's what resonates well with me.

But I'm still working on this...
The three rules of the Librarians of Time and Space are: 1) Silence; 2) Books must be returned no later than the date last shown; and 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality.
